tartan in the park

“The Tartan in the Park” event at the Waipu Highland Games was first introduced by the Clan Maclean Association of New Zealand at the 2008 Games and has been held each year since. The event is promoted as a fun and fashion show in which contestants must wear garments either of tartan material or having some tartan component. Contestants will also be expected to speak briefly about the origin of the garment and of the tartan worn. 
There are five separate sections to the competition

  1. Adult Ladies - 15 years and over.
  2. Adult Men – 15 years and over
  3. Girls 4 years – 14 years.
  4. Boys – 4 years to 14 years
  5. Toddlers – Under 4 years

Entries close no later that 1.30 p.m. on the day of the Games – the event commences at 2 p.m.
